Certain genetic markers may put you at an increased risk for oral health ailments, conditions, diseases, and disorders. Although cleaning and flossing are always effective treatment plans, you may require more effort than traditional methods to keep your teeth and gum safe from underlying conditions.

One of the most common conditions that people tend to be genetically predisposed to is gum disease. If you have a family history of gum disease, you are much more likely to be predisposed to the condition. Fortunately, it does not mean that you are automatically guaranteed to get the disease or contract the condition. Thus, always practice effective oral health treatment plans no matter the issue.

Genetic markers have been found for numerous oral health ailments including cavities. Make sure you are brushing and flossing every day and visiting your periodontist to ensure your oral health can remain safe. Do not forget to visit your dentist every six months for a professional cleaning to touch up spots or areas that you may have missed in your own daily treatment plans.
